At Culinary Veda, we bridge the gap between medical advice and everyday cooking. Through a blend of Ayurvedic wisdom and hands-on instruction, we empower you to create nourishing meals tailored to your unique health needs while building sustainable habits that fit your lifestyle.
Our approach goes beyond recipes, integrating time-tested Ayurvedic practices to support balance in body, mind, and spirit. With simple steps, weekly goals, and practical guidance, we help you turn cooking into a confident, manageable, and deeply healing part of your daily life.My search for meaning began in my teens when my father introduced me to the mind-body-spirit connection through Transcendental Meditation, Ayurveda, and yoga. Growing up in South Africa during a time of immense transition, a deep spiritual desire to find my true identity was awakened within me. I realized early on that our physical bodies are just outer coverings—and that true wellness comes from accessing our deep, intuitive inner wisdom.
At 20 years old, that search led me to join a temple full-time in Cape Town. It was there, surrounded by the rich aromas of a bustling kitchen and the warmth of the cooking flame, that my lifelong passion for food and service was truly ignited.

At 20 years old, that search led me to join a temple full-time in Cape Town. It was there, surrounded by the rich aromas of a bustling kitchen and the warmth of the cooking flame, that my lifelong passion for food and service was truly ignited.

In temple culture, cooking and feasting are treated as vital spiritual practices. I quickly found myself managing high-volume kitchens, preparing daily meals for anywhere from 20 to 200 people. Every plate was treated as a sacred offering—it had to be wholesome, perfectly balanced, and prepared with deep intention.
When I transitioned to the Greater Houston area, I brought that deep culinary foundation with me. For over ten years, I’ve had the joy of teaching Ayurveda and Ayurvedic cooking at trusted local staple spots like Whole Foods, Central Market, and Sprouts. I also maintained a private chef practice, tailoring customized weekly meals to the precise health demands and unique palates of private clients.
As I helped clients navigate chronic health challenges, I realized they didn't need abstract concepts—they needed a bridge between modern scientific medicine and everyday home cooking. To build that bridge, I integrated my hands-on culinary background with advanced certifications from elite institutions:
Harvard Medical School & ACLM: Trained in Culinary Coaching to anchor my practices in modern lifestyle medicine.
California College of Ayurveda: Graduated as a Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor to master the art of rebalancing digestion and identifying body constitutions.
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM): Trained as a Food for Life Instructor to specialize in using plant-based cuisine to overcome diet-related conditions.
Culinary Veda is the culmination of my life’s work. I know what it is like to hold high responsibilities, balance an intense schedule, and feel completely disconnected from your own self-care. True vitality does not come from rigid, stressful diets that add to your daily mental load.
My mission is to patiently teach you how your body works, clear away the nutritional guesswork, and give you the real-world skills to turn daily cooking into a confident, manageable, and deeply healing ritual. Let's reclaim your energy together.
A framework hard to find anywhere else.
Working with Karuna to tailor the fast to my dosha helped me identify my constitution, enhance my self-awareness, and learn how amenable to positive change my body is. While the program isn't long in days, its effects have stayed with me. My body is now eager to make wiser choices and stay in tune with what it needs.

An essential part of my healing.
I was so fortunate to take a course in Ayurvedic cooking from Karuna while in the early stages of recovering from years of undiagnosed Celiac disease and severe gastrointestinal complications. Her wisdom provided the exact foundational support my body needed to heal from its very core.

Changed the way I view food completely.
Taking Karuna's cooking classes opened my eyes to a completely new approach to daily health. She makes ancient concepts incredibly approachable, full of flavor, and completely manageable to implement in a real, everyday kitchen.
